Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Looking for a pumpkin pie recipe using fresh, wholesome ingredients? Look no further! You will not need your can opener for this one!  The bit of extra time it takes to prepare this pie is well worth the effort, as you’ll truly be able to savor the roasted flavor of your pumpkin and the sweetness of pure Vermont maple syrup. Fresh, ready-to-roll dough from local Kiss Tart Pastry will help reduce your prep time and you’ll find it in the weekly sale from November 14th – 20th. If pumpkin isn’t your thing, feel free to sub in roasted butternut squash or roasted sweet potatoes. Either way, we have a feeling this will become your new go-to pie for the holidays!

Raspberry Beet Chèvre

Are you packing a picnic for this year’s Festival on the Green? We think you’ll love this simple, colorful, and versatile spread which is perfect on a Castleton Cracker, a fresh baguette, or as a dip with apple slices. Just be prepared for others to want to join your picnic! You’ll find many of the ingredients in our weekly sale display from July 4th – 10th, so it’s a great time to give it a try!

Chili

Planning a gathering for the big game?  Whether you’re a sports fan or not, we think you’ll love this hearty chili recipe. It’s a simple, one-pot meal that can feed a big crowd and it features a handful of ingredients from the weekly sale display from January 31st – February 6th, so it’s easy on the budget. Using dried beans requires a little more advanced preparation (soaking) and a longer cooking time, but dried beans are much more economical and the longer cook time allows much more flavor to develop.  Cook up an extra large pot and freeze the leftovers for a busier weeknight. You’ll be so glad you did!

Are chips and dip part of your game day spread? Then you’ll be thrilled to hear that our Member Deals Spotlight shines brightly on Late July this week! All of their products are 20% off for member-owners from January 31st – February 6th. Read on to learn more about them:

Late July is named for that sweet spot of summer when life feels simple, pure & good and it’s also their philosophy on snack-making. They believe that the best parties need a few simple things — great friends, good stories and delicious food! At Late July, these three things always come together around a big bowl of delicious tortilla chips. That is why they take so much care in using the highest quality ingredients without sacrificing on taste. They care deeply about using organic and non-GMO ingredients and making chips for everyone at the party.

Their snacks stand out in a crowded snack aisle, not just because of their delicious taste, but also because of their commitment to sourcing the highest quality organic and non-GMO ingredients that are free of toxic persistent pesticides, artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives. You’ll find a variety of gluten-free, vegan, Kosher and nut-free offerings to please every palate.

They hope that you enjoy eating their snacks as much as they enjoy making them!

Guacamole

This delicious and simple guacamole recipe comes to us from the avocado experts at Equal Exchange Co-op, who are working hard to radically transform the avocado market to benefit small, organic farmers. Equal Exchange partners with PRAGOR, a progressive cooperative of small-scale avocado farmers in Michoacán Mexico. This region of Mexico is called “the avocado capital of the world.” However, powerful corporate interests have made it difficult for small-scale farmers to compete. In response, PRAGOR courageously organized and decided they would collectively control the entire process from growing to exporting. We’ll be featuring these Organic, Fair Trade avocados in our weekly sale from January 31st – February 6th, so it’s a perfect time to make a big batch of guacamole to feed your game day crowd!

Honey & Spice Poached Pears

Looking for a healthy, delicious, fruit-forward dessert to wow your holiday guests? This one is sure to please! It can also be made well in advance – just store the poached pears in some of their poaching liquid. They’ll continue to marinate and will be extra flavorful as a result! Organic red pears are featured in our weekly sale this week, making this recipe particularly budget-friendly. It’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser!
