Description

A Thanksgiving feast just doesn’t feel complete without a generous serving of gravy! This year, skip the canned stuff and avoid those powdery packets – making your own gravy is really quite simple and oh-so-delicious! It allows you to make good use of the drippings in the bottom of your turkey roasting pan and gives you something to do while your turkey rests so that you aren’t tempted to carve that bird too quickly!

Instructions

Use a baster or a spoon to remove the pan drippings from the bottom of your turkey roasting pan. Place them in your fridge or freezer so that the fat rises to the top and the remaining drippings settle to the bottom. Skim the fat and set it aside. Ideally, you will have 1/4 cup of fat and 1 cup of pan drippings. If not, make up the difference with butter & broth. Warm the fat in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Whisk in the flour to form a paste. Let this cook a few minutes until bubbly, the pour in the pan drippings and whisk. Finish by whisking in the broth until the gravy reaches desired consistency. Add salt & pepper to taste.
