Comfort Food

Bibimbap

Likely one of the most well-known and beloved Korean dishes, Bibimbap is the ultimate comfort food. While there are many variations, Bibimbap simply translates to “mixed rice with meat and assorted vegetables ” and typically includes steamed rice, sauteed and seasoned vegetables (namul) or kimchi, and spicy gochujang, topped with marinated meat or an egg. Feel free to get creative with the toppings – this dish is a perfect catch-all for leftover veggies you have in the fridge. You’ll also find many of the ingredients you need in our Weekly sale from March 18th – 24th, so it’s a perfect time to give this dish a try!

Vermont Cheddar Mashed Potatoes

Dare we say that these classic mashed potatoes with a Vermont twist are an essential part of your holiday feast? We certainly think so. The Vermont cheddar lends the perfect amount of cheesy goodness without being overwhelmingly cheesy or gooey. You’ll find local, organic gold potatoes feature in our Weekly Sale from November 12th – 18th, so go ahead and stock up early. You’ll be glad that your list is a bit shorter as the holiday draws near.

Southern-Style Collard Greens

Warm your soul with collard greens.  This recipe comes from a staffer who grew up in the deep south with fond memories of devouring large bowls of collard greens, then sopping up the pot liquor with freshly baked cornbread. She insists it’s the ultimate comfort food! And if you like things spicy, don’t hesitate to add a generous dash of hot sauce.

Creole Jambalaya

Planning a Mardi Gras celebration? Our weekly sale from February 20th – 26th celebrates Creole cuisine and we think you’ll love this jambalaya recipe! It comes from a staff member that grew up in the South and has fond memories of the food and cultural traditions surrounding the holiday. This jambalaya is a bit soupier than some traditional versions of the dish, but this is the way her family always made it so that there was plenty of spicy broth to sop up with a crusty baguette.
