While it’s tough to beat a classic hot dog with all the standard fixings, it can also be a lot of fun to merge a traditional hot dog with the flavors of other favorite comfort foods. With that in mind, we introduce you to the Dumpling Dog, featuring many of the flavors of your favorite take-out dumplings and every bit as fun to eat. Our weekly sale from June 30th – July 6th features Applegate Farms Natural Uncured Beef Hot Dogs and Bakerly Brioche hotdog buns, so pick up a pack of each and give these Dumpling Dogs a try!
Boil, pan-sear, or grill hotdogs until heated through. Meanwhile, heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and add fresh ginger, garlic, the white parts of the scallion (reserving the green parts for garnish), cabbage, and shiitake mushrooms. Saute for about 5 minutes, seasoning with a bit of salt and stirring occasionally until veggies are softened and cooked through. Gently toast the hotdog buns, place a hot dog into each, then top with the mushroom mixture, a sprinkling of green scallions, and a generous splash of hoisin sauce.
